Property Settlements .

Section 79(4) of the FLA

Section 4 defines property.The purpose of the settlement in defined under section 81 FLA:

To finally determine the financial relationships between the parties to the marriage and avoid furtherproceedings between them.

Under sections 79(4)(a)-(c) the parties contributions are defined and discussed including:

direct financial contributions towards any property
indirect or direct financial contribution to maintaining any property
non financial contributions ie the wife is the homemaker while the husband runs a business
duration of marriage, gifts, lottery winnings, contributions after seperation, special skills, waste, small asset pool.
